Located at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal, Yangzhou has been known for active commercial trade in the ancient times thanks to well-developed land and waterway transportation. Currently, it is part of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, encompassing Shanghai, and home to multinational enterprises, such as Volkswagen, Phillips, and Toray Industries.
