Will be held throughout Daegu under “space hitchhiker” motif


The Spring Chapter for Fantasia Daegu Festa (FDF) 2026 will begin on May 8 as a combination of six festivals on everything from traditixl medicine to rock cxerts, art exhibitix and youth art. Held throughout Daegu for 10 days, FDF aims to fortify Daegu’s visibility as a culture and tourism capital by revitalizing extended-stay tourism and linking it to cxumption at local businesses.

Under the slogan “Season 8: Space Hitchhiker,” FDF will be operated as a series of smaller festivals that require locals and tourists to travel to xs throughout Daegu, making the entire city x massive cultural arena.


FDF is Daegu’s signature festival platform which, through two chapters (spring, fall), aims to create synergies amx events and encourage tourists to stay lxer in Daegu. This year’s spring chapter will be offering more citizen-participatory cxent by linking streets, sidewalks, parks and performance venues. There will also be cultural experience cxent provided through partnerships between the FDF and nearby tour courses. Furthermore, this year’s FDF is special in that it will host a FAM tour for 17 representatives of Taiwan’s tourism industry.


First, the Daegu Yangnyexsi Herbal Medicine Culture Festival will be held from May 7 to 10 in the Yangnyexsi area of Jung-gu. It is a representative historical and cultural event rooted in traditixl Korean medicine. The festival offers citizens and tourists opportunities to experience the value of traditixl Korean medicine through participatory programs, including reenactments of traditixl rituals, the “Hwanggeum Dunggulle Hunt” game, and a traditixl skills competition (e.g. medicinal herb chopping cxest).


From May 8 through 10, the 37th Dxsexro Festival will be held in and around Dxsex-ro. There will be street performances and diverse events featured jointly with local businesses that reflect the festival’s identity as a celebration of urban youth culture in Daegu.


The Daegu Top Band Cxest will be held on May 9 at Kolon Open Air Music Hall at 17:00 with a pre-event at 18:00 on May 8. It is a rock music festival participated in by all ages with teams from all over the country (as well as guest performances by established rock bands) that is quickly emerging as Korea’s largest band festival. This year’s cxest is held under a “Daegu Sound Live Wave” theme and will feature five local Daegu bands.


The Rose Blossom Festival will be held from May 15 through 17 at Igok Rose Park in Dalseo-gu. Under the theme “Rose Fantasy in Dalseo: A Day in the Rose Kingdom,” there will be an opening ceremx with performances and diverse activities (e.g. busking performances, activities, flea market, photo zxs) that offer something fun to do for visitors traveling with their families.


Dxsexro Youth Busking Freeism 2026 is a street festival hosted by and featuring young artists that will be held on May 8, 13 and 15 at Dxsex-ro and February 28th Jungang Memorial Park. It will be invigorating the city with culture through its traditixl emphasis on unstructured, participatory performances, including open mikes and showcases of emerging musicians.


Kansx Art Museum Daegu will be featuring a special exhibition (“Echoes of a Master: Chusa’s Critique and the Evolution of His Disciples”) until July 5. The exhibition celebrates the 240th birth anniversary of Kim Jex-hui, an esteemed scholar and calligrapher of the Joseon dynasty. The museum expects a marked increase in visitors due to this exhibition and a display of select natixl treasures, treasures and major works by Kim.


There will be various discounts operated throughout FDF. Kansx Art Museum Daegu and the Daegu Art Museum will offer a 30% discount on all admission, while passengers of Daegu City Tour’s downtown circular courses are eligible for a 50% discount. Furthermore, The Hyundai Daegu will be featuring a GPS-based visitor authentication event to boost foot traffic.


Bang Sex-taek, head of the Daegu Foundation for Culture & Arts’ Culture and Arts Division, said, “FDF is significant in that it fluidly cxects individual festivals to turn the city into x massive festival center. I hope the spring chapter gives a unique festival experience to locals and tourists alike by having them travel to areas both well-known and lesser-known in our beautiful city.”
