Will offer information on parking availability and fees for 1,653 locations in greater metropolitan area
Daegu Metropolitan City (DMC) will be launching its Integrated Parking Data System (IPDS)* on March 1 (Sat). Users will be able to access information on nearby parking lots or cheap/free parking for public parking lots in 1,653 locations in downtown Daegu and immediately surrounding districts.

For 74 parking lots, including the ones at Gukchae-bosang Campaign Memorial Park and Daegu Metropolitan City Hall Plaza, information will be provided in real-time on current space availability. Plans are underway to expand this number to include both public parking lots that were not able to be included and interested private parking facilities.
Through IPDS, DMC will be able to integrate public and private parking information that was heretofore managed separately by districts—a measure that is expected to be of significant help to citizens.
IPDS will offer the following on all public parking lots in Daegu: basic information (e.g. location, total parking area, hours and fees); real-time parking space availability; and mobile payment services (e.g. parking pass, QR code pre-payment). There will also be a destination-based parking lot search function and road navigation-link service—a responsive Web-based service that will be available screen-optimized on diverse devices (e.g. computer, tablet PC, smartphone).
The data collected for IPDS will, by being disclosed as open API, which can be utilized by private parking platforms, expand the number of channels through which citizens can use services as well as help private businesses to broaden profit-making avenues.
Through stable operation of IPDS and regularly upgrading its functions, DMC hopes to enhance residents’ satisfaction with municipal services. The plan is to develop IPDS into a smart parking system applied with cutting-edge technologies (e.g. AI).
Mayor Hong Joon-pyo said, “I hope that IPDS allows citizens to use public parking facilities more easily. Based on the data that is collected by this system in the near future, we will do everything possible to put into place an effective parking policy and address chronic parking-related problems.”
