  • 1Open the airway (remove foreign objects from the mouth)
    1.기도열기(입 안의 이물제거)
    • Check the patient's mouth for foreign objects. If foreign objects are clearly visible, use your fingers to sweep them out.
  • 2Compression position (infants)
    2. 압박위치(영아)
    • Place two fingers just below the center of the sternum and press down.

※ Note: Do not press the solar plexus.

  • 3Compression position (Children)
    3. 압박위치(유아)
    • Pressure may be applied with one hand rather than two if the child is very young. (Most children)
  • 4Chest compression
    4. 흉부압박
    • Compress the chest 30 times at a rate of at least 100 times per minute to a depth of at least one-third of the rib cage.
If the child is old enough for two hands, do not remove either hand from the patient's chest during chest compressions.

※ Perform the compressions while counting from one to thirty, and allow the compressed chest to return to its original position completely.

  • 5Maintain the airway
    5. 기도유지
    • Place one hand on the forehead and lift the patient's chin with the other hand, but keep it in a neutral position.

※ Note: It is easy to tilt the head back too far for infants and children. This can block the airway, so be careful to avoid it.

  • 6Perform artificial respiration twice
    6. 인공호흡 2회 실시
    • The rescuer must cover the infant’s nose and mouth with his/her mouth and perform artificial respiration twice.
  • 7Repeat every two minutes after analyzing the heart rhythm
    7. 2분마다 심장리듬 분석 후 반복 시행
    • Analyze the heart rhythm and repeat every 2 minutes until the patient recovers or until the 119 rescue team arrives.
    • If there are two rescuers, one person performs chest compressions and the other performs artificial respiration in a 15:2 ratio.
