Medi Expo Korea, a health and medical industry exhibition, was originally scheduled to be held in June this year but was already delayed earlier this year to the end of September due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eventually it had to be canceled this year due to the re-proliferation of COVID-19, centered in the Seoul Metropolitan Area.
In an effort to help local medical businesses overcome the limitations in their overseas marketing activities and to support their advancement into overseas markets, Daegu planned an export consultation session to connect medical businesses, purchasing agents at hospitals, and overseas buyers.
Medi Expo Korea 2020 Online and Offline Export (Purchasing) Consultation Site
Among the companies participating in Medi Expo, 30 medical companies based in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do will be selected to participate in the session, with over 50 foreign buyers from China, Vietnam, and the Middle East. Once the companies are reviewed by local trade experts in target countries regarding company products and marketability, they will partake in online consultations..
Each participating company will display product samples and promotional materials within a booth and partake in consultation with overseas buyers via video chat. Offline consultation sites will be arranged in China and Vietnam to increase the effectiveness of the consultation session.
In addition, offline consultation sessions will also be held for purchasing agents at hospitals, and others who have applied for advance visit, limiting the number of entrants per day.
Seo Gwi-yong, head of the Medical Industrial Infra Division at Daegu Metropolitan City, remarked, “We are planning to focus on contact-free export consultation session to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and also provide a place for medical companies to meet with Korean buyers within a restricted setting as well.” He added, “I hope that this event can bring new hope to the local medical companies that are currently facing difficulties due to COVID-19.”
The consultation session will be held, following the proper preventive measures to deter COVID-19, from checking the identification of the participants, measuring temperature, enforcing hand sanitation, and implementing safety guidelines on site.
