Daegu attracts Arirang TV’s entertainment show from November 6 to 8 to promote tourism for Thai

On November 6, the production team of Arirang TV’s entertainment show Travel Agency visited Daegu to film and broadcast an episode on Daegu. The team invited a renowned Thai creator to stay in Daegu for three days, until November 8, and promote Daegu on Thai TV as part of the Korean Wave in broadcasting.

□ In order to promote Daegu and attract tourists from Thailand, which can be reached with a direct flight from Daegu, Daegu government invited a popular local creator from Thailand, who has a strong influence over the Thai people, and Arirang TV’s Travel Agency, an influential entertainment show in spreading the Korean Wave.

○ Arirang TV’s Travel Agency is a travel entertainment show that invites popular YouTubers and creators from across the world and introduces them to Korea’s hidden attractions, thereby actively promoting Korea’s tourist attractions to the world.

□ The episode on Daegu was filmed with a focus on small but definite pieces of happiness from the perspective of foreigners. The episode will introduce Daegu’s beautiful autumn foliage, tourist attractions and entertainment, as well as delicious Korean food through the eyes of popular Thai creator Gozziira and Kriesha Chu, a singer who will serve as charming tour guide through Daegu.

○ Major locations for the shooting included Kim Gwangseok Memorial Street, historic streets of Daegu, Seomun Market, Chicken Theme Park, monorail (Metro Line 3), and E-World, and the episode will expose various tourist attractions and food in Daegu.

○ The Daegu episode of Travel Agency will be aired on Arirang Korea and Arirang World in Dcember, and it will also be promoted through the Thai creator’s livestream and social media.

□ In the previous year, the Daegu International Airport added a direct route to Bangkok Thailand. Along with this, Daegu hosted information sessions for promoting tourism for Thai visitors, invitational FAM tour for Thai travel agencies, and made sales calls. As a result, as of the end of September 2018, the number of Thai tourists in Korea doubled (increased by 102.1 percent) from 2,155 in September 2017 to 4,355.  
○ This episode on Daegu will be used immediately to promote Daegu, and the city government also plans to actively attract Thai visitors to Daegu by working with Thai travel agencies in order to start developing Daegu tour products from Thailand.

□ Daegu’s Director of Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Han Man-soo remarked, “Promotional marketing these days is very different from the past. Contents are very influential. By inviting creators who consume and produce contents at the same time, we will continue to promote our marketing strategy to attract more foreign tourists to Daegu.”
