Daegu ranked first in the nation in terms of the number of companies and innovative products registered with “Venture Nara”
Took top position nationwide in the fourth quarter (54 products of 35 companies), after ranking first place in the third quarter in regions outside the Seoul Metropolitan Area.
Daegu Metropolitan Government recently announced that 54 of the excellent regional products (from 35 companies) that it had recommended to “Venture Nara” in the fourth quarter of 2017 were finally selected, ranking the region first in terms of the number of products and companies selected nationwide.
m Among other cities and regions in Korea, excluding the Seoul Metropolitan Area, Daegu Metropolitan City achieved the best results this year in terms of the number of products selected by Venture Nara, an online shopping mall dedicated to venture and startup companies, after having taken top spot in the third quarter as well. Prior to the issuance of the public notice for the fourth quarter by the Public Procurement Office, the city and the Daegu Science and Technology Promotion Center held meetings with business support organizations to identify and explore excellent products of venture and startup companies in Daegu, established its own assessment committee to evaluate candidate companies, and supported those companies by providing one-on-one consultations with specialists.
m By distributing promotional materials for the products of regional companies selected by and registered with Venture Nara, Daegu City aims to encourage public institutions and citizens to purchase the products of local startups. It also plans to establish a comprehensive support system to promote the exchange of information on these products.
m To help regional venture and startup companies sell their products in the public procurement market, the Daegu Science and Technology Promotion Center, located in Daegu Technopark, will receive applications from companies wishing to be registered with Venture Nara for the first quarter of 2018 from January 12 to 26 through the official websites of Daegu Metropolitan City and Daegu Technopark.
m Launched in October 2016, Venture Nara is an online shopping mall that carries the products of venture and startup companies exclusively. It is operated by the Public Procurement Service for the purpose of expanding and promoting G2B (government-to-business) sales and offers registered, high-quality products from startups and ventures that possess excellent technology.
m In addition, 40 companies, including three regional companies, will be selected by an evaluation committee from among Venture Nara-registered companies to exhibit their products at Venture Nara Startup Hall at Korea Public Procurement Expo 2018 (KOPPEX 2018), which is scheduled for April 2018.
m Mayor Kwon Young-jin of Daegu Metropolitan Government said, “With Daegu City taking top spot in terms of the number of products of innovative venture and startup companies selected for sale on Venture Nara, promising venture and startup companies in the region will get a much-needed boost through a resulting increase in their sales to public institutions. Going forward, Daegu Metropolitan City will continue providing active support for these companies as they explore the G2B market.”
