June 11 (Fri.) 15:00 ~ , Around Dongseongno

In line with the kickoff of the Dongseongno Festival, Daegu Metropolitan City will hold a cultural event that seeks to recapture the inauguration parade of the Gyeongsang governor of the Joseon Dynasty. This will occur around Dongseong-ro Street and other Jung-gu district regions from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., on June 11.
The event was designed to promote the history and culture of the city, where Gyeongsang Gamyeong, the office for the Gyeongsang province, used to be located during the Joseon Dynasty. Also, it is expected to attract the local people.
Headed by a military band and an honor guard march, a band of pungmul, or Korean traditional percussion music, the streets will be filled with the sound of traditional Korea. The ceremonial walk by the Gyeongsang governor will be reproduced and accompanied with a row of various flags and huge drums. Officers and armored soldiers will be guarding the front and back of the governor with traditional battle tanks and horses, as the governor, in a palanquin, will march around the downtown of Daegu.
A 400-strong parade will start from Jongno Elementary School at 3 p.m., June 11, and will proceed along the three kilometer route going through Jungbu Police Station, Jongno Furniture Street, Jungang Police Station, 228 Park, Daegu Department Store, former venue of the Dongin Hotel, Hana Bank, and Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park before returning to Jongno Elementary School.
